NOTTS FC 4 WOLLATON III 0

MAA Premier Division League Match

Aspley, Nottingham. Saturday October 18th.

Team: Rob Elliott, Fraser, Joe Lewis, Dave Smith, Steve Burton, Josh Slade, Micky Evans, Rocky Bennett-Bull, Chris Fish, Mark Middleton, Andy Creswell. Subs: Martin, Dave Grantham & Sheldon Miller (all used).

I'm not in much of a mood to do this one justice. In a nutshell, we were the better team in the first half though we got punished with a ball over the back four and their striker netted well to give them a 1-0 lead. Despite that we played the better football and had a host of chances in the first half and should have capitalised on those.

In the second half we had a mad 20 minutes straight from the kick off in which we got battered - out run and out thought and Notts exploited us with pace and movement. No doubt about it; they deserved the points. The pitch was superb and they did it justice, shame we didn't. We drew 2-2 against them at the start of the season because we kept our shape and kept focused. This is what happens when you let go of both for a significant period of time. Moreover, we lost the midfield battle and failed to track runners properly leaving too much for our defence to do.

We missed Nick up front, though Mark and Cressy worked tirelessly up front.

Man of the Match: Mark Middleton...worked tirelessly to try to get us back in it, as did Cressy.
